MazaoHub, an agribusiness among CLIC’s 2023 cohort of SMEs, has received a VC investment from the Catalyst Fund! The Tanzania-based start-up will now join the Catalyst Fund’s portfolio of early-stage climate tech start-ups, receiving pre-seed capital and bespoke venture building support.
MazaoHub is a climate-smart, end-to-end, farm management software that integrates soil sensors with AI-powered agronomy. The platform conducts soil testing and analysis, offering smallholder farmers bespoke insights, from fertilizer recommendations to carbon farming guides.
Commenting on the announcement, MazaoHub CEO and co-founder Geophrey Tenganamba shared, “We would not have reached this point without the support of ClimateShot Investor Coalition (CLIC). You are the bridge that lifted us up and helped us take this big step.”
MazaoHub is among the eight agri-SMEs supported by CLIC’s Agrifood Investment Connector, a platform to raise private funding for early-stage climate-resilient and nature-positive agribusinesses in emerging markets.
The Catalyst Fund is a pre-seed VC fund and accelerator backing tech entrepreneurs scaling solutions for a climate-resilient future in Africa, and a winner of a competition run by the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (the Lab). The Lab is an investor-led, public-private initiative that accelerates innovative well designed, early-stage climate finance solutions and instruments.
The Climate Policy Initiative is the secretariat for both CLIC and the Lab.
